That's the problem with bullies. They may be trying to shame their victims for not being like them- but the victims may be happy being what they are. Of course, it can be more complex than that. Bullies tend to act out of insecurity, afraid of what people are going to label them if they don't act to enforce an 'acceptable' image of toughness and control. So on the one hand, we want others to conform to our standards and values, on the other, we fear how others measure us. Roy at least is content to be what he is, giving him a sort of bully-proof vest.
We're just from different worlds. When a trogdo-jock calls me a "loser", I consider it a compliment - I wouldn't want to be like him and he doesn't want to be like me. Diff'rent strokes.
Is geek the new nerd by some definitions? Geek, to me, is a compliment of sorts. But then again, you wouldn't tell a skilled cardiac surgeon that they were a geek, would you?
