Are you speaking of Bastille day?- Americans before the Revolt celebrated George the III's birthday on June 3rd, guess we were used to a big party and needed a reason to have one in the summertime. But no fireworks! Because we had to get them suprise, suprise from England!
I love Ripley's beleive it or not! I still say "Tell it to Bob Ripley." even if no one gets it.

We in the US may be celebrating one man signing the Declaration but I personally think it beats other reasons for national holidays such as tearing down a perfectly good castle,etc. Interesting that Mr. !$%*!$% signed it even before its author Thomas Jefferson!
