Reply to The Jam by Throwdini. Yes, what you're saying is all true. Some people use an undercharged .22 which slows it down to just over 500 mph. A fully charged bullet, for its size, has a speed of over 700 mph. It is the latter which I used. There was no hiding the fact a steel cup is used to stop the bullet. In fact, David Blaine openly placed the cup in his mouth and it was quite clear what was happening: a bullet was fired into the cup in his mouth. Period. He stopped the bullet. What I did was no different other than using a fully charged bullet fired from about 14 feet away directly into the cup I wrapped my fingers around. There was a significant change of taking that bullet in my hand for a number of reasons; we won't go there. The arrow was bowed at several speeds from about 35 feet to get the speed where it didn't entirely slip through the fingers. The knives come at me around 25-28 mph and must be grabbed at precisely the right moment in their spin or it's possible to "take one" in the palm. I should know, I've already pulled two from my hand during an attempt to break my catch record of 25 in 1 minute. This is serious stuff carefully planned and thought out. It is not fake as Elroch appears to imply. Stated another way, I thank the many other posters who saw the light and made creative vs. informed comments. Throwdini www.knifethrower.com

Throwdini performed these feats! I should know....cause I;m the woman that Burt Reynolds says has True Grit. Ever hear "It takes one to know one"? Well I know Throwdini did. I went with him to select the Firearm. Not one of my Favorite things to do , select Firearms but atleast I have my small part in this historic event. More to come , Keep your eyes open for the upcoming April 26th Cartoon (wink wink)

If it was a .22, it's plausible (thanks to all the Mythbusters experiments). The arrow, maybe, as the Mythbusters couldn't make the robotic hand grasp the fired arrow fired at NORMAL speed, but then Adam caught several when Jaime shot them by pulling back only halfway.

Ever notice that most bloggers on social networks are just wanting to rant about something? Mostly negative too. Instead of sitting in a chair and telling everyone what`s wrong with the world and what is bugging them, get up and go out into the world and do something about it to make a difference.

I will never understand what it is in the human nature (of some) that urges them to constantly try and disprove what they MUST know has been researched, and authenticated before being published. Ripley's has been at this for 90 years now people, I'm thinkin' they're pretty careful about the information they put in their FACTS.

Thanks for the explanation Throwdini. I had my doubts about the ability to catch a bullet as well, wondering, even if one was quick enough, how one would do so without getting a hole in one's hand. Appreciate you stopping in and clearing up how it was done and congrats on your achievements.

Sorry you feel that way Elroch. The fact is you're wrong. This is not trickery. Each projectile was stopped/caught with my right hand. If you saw David Blaine's recent bullet catch he clearly showed the steel cup in his mouth. I used the exact same cup in my hand to stop the bullet. I created and hold the world record for catching 25 knives thrown at me in 1 minute and the arrow catch has been done by many performers over the years. NOTHING is fake. Each carries their own risk of injury. Therefore, you are better to keep your ill informed opinion to yourself before attempting to belittle or insult what I've done. Do your homework first, then make comments. More information is at www.knifethrower.com. David Adamovich aka The Great Throwdini

I am doubtful that conjuring tricks justify a place here. In case anyone didn't realise, catching of normally fired arrows and, even more so, bullets is essentially impossible for humans. These are standard conjurer's tricks that have been explained well in the TV series "breaking the magicians' code".
