Grammy, maybe Brian is watching you to get ideas. :) Now Opal's softer side comes out. Any ill can be cured by fresh baked cookies, even Earl's dislike for tree rats. Oh, and around here we don't call 'em rats. Instead, we call 'em dinner. (I would appologize to PETA members, but any who know me would know it wasn't sincere. heh heh)
Zork, No problem!!
I'm fairly new here to Comics.com and the "Pickles". I appreciate your comments and will start reading back strips. Plus, I loved the storyline you started. Maybe you could send it to Mr. Crane like readers do for the "Pluggers". However, I am disturbed that I am beginning to have things in common with Opal ... feeding squirrels,
having a cat, baking cookies when I want Grampy's attention diverted ... and Earl [and Grampy] having a dog. Heavens, it is my life!!!! Glad you found time in your long work weekend to bring me up to date. Thanks.
I just thought of something, Grammymiles! You mentioned Opal 'needing' more grandchildren. I wonder if that could be a future storyline in which she tries to nag/guilt trip Sylvia and her husband to try to give Nelson baby half-sibs? Not that getting nagged by one's mother/mother-in-law is what eagerly spurs couples into babymaking but I wouldn't put it past Opal to do that! Maybe Opal could become a 'foster grandma' to some of Sylvia's friends' kids or Nelson's friends who don't have living/nearby grandparents!

Grammymiles, I hate to contradict you (especially after the nice things you said to me Friday and Saturday) but the Pickles already HAVE pets- Muffin the cat (Opal's) and Roscoe the dog (evidently Earl's but I wouldn't be surprised if Opal's the one who feeds him and picks up after him). Regardless, Opal seems always at the ready to bake more cookies to soothe the savage beast (or at least quiet a curmudgeon) so even if the squirrels tear up their garden and maybe get into their attic to nibble on live wires, they Do serve a good purpose- at least at that house!LOL
Earl needs to look into the some nice pellet guns on the market now. He could sit on the back porch and take out those rats with cute tails whisper quiet.
I had a house cat who would sit in the window of my sun porch and watch. She did not make a sound nor moved, she just sat and stared. The Pickles should get a pet so Opal would soften her attitude. She already is showing her softer side by feeding the squirrels. After 50 years of marriage, she needs more than grandchildren.
Yep. Squirrels are fun to watch. We have so many cats, though, that it's not a good idea to feed them at home. I like to go to the park and feed them there.
