Maybe women will never understand men. Animals are cute, but.... What a rat! He just does not know how to write a story. What about Love?!

This is a classic- right up there with 'Box O'Stupid People', 'Cod All- Nighty' and 'Family Circus Meets Osama'. Great stuff, Stephan.

Men will never understand women. As I've gotten older I've gotten better at it. I've never bought my wife a gift at a drugstore or hardware, and never given her cookware. Henry had it coming. At least he didn't get Elly the latest Hippos Gone Wild video.

wow I never thought the nannybots would eat "P*OR*NO Graphic". Which reminds me to say @ Sherlock -- they don't allow any word that contains any syllablee that forms anything suggestive, like the first part of that bug. But what's in my word?? The P to O part?

I thought today's strip was great. My sister was actaully heading to a birthday party without a gift( she didn't think the girl wanted one!) so I wonder if she got stomped on LOL its' not like I didn't warned her! Ah, Rat!

In re Struwwelpeter: Rat is part of a long tradition. Pearls readers must know Edward Gorey, some of whose little "children's" picture books are meant only for adults, with plots just as dark, but very funny, with a fake-Victorian sensibility. If not, you HAVE to read some, like The Wugly Ump, wherein the cildren get eaten, The Curious Sofa, obscurely !$%*!$%*!$%*!$%*!$%*!$% and the sad story of the Hapless Child. Also Oscar Wilde wrote a "children's" story book called the Happy Prince that made me cry for days when I was 10. The only difference with Rat's book is that the meanness is straightforward and unvarnished.

In B.C., Rat is very much Rat. Funny, Hart doesn't usually do that sort of thing.

I have to say there are ALOT of Henry Hippos out there and they need to change because there are also alot of Elly Elephants,I also wonder when the animated series is taking off.

Folks, analyze all you want, the strip is insanely hilarious! Pastis is a master at getting giggles, snorts, coffee out of the nose, funny.
