In my part of the US, Faulkner was generally not assigned to high school students. I've read very little of his work, but I do like the quote from one of his works, "The past isn't dead. The past isn't even PAST." We carry our past with us always, for better or worse.

It's a great book if you can follow stream of consciousness. The entire series of Faulkner books tells the history of one family and it is truly exciting.

Interesting that Rat uses the approach of Ernest Hemmingway to express his opinion of Faulkner. Wonder what Rat thinks of Kurt Vonnegart?
