Stephen, with all due respect you are an idiot. This strip is very inaccurate, the CEO had no choice congress ordered those loans. What does the CEO get by losing the company? Nothing. CEOs are smart people who have been made villains by the Obama driven propagandist media. And now you have become part of this propaganda by repackaging it and putting it on the sunday comics page, shame on you.
I agree with daerius. The whole problem did NOT start with banks. It started with our irresponsible congress DEMANDING "affordable home loans". Read that to mean loans to people who could not afford them. Quote: Rep. Barney Frank: "I do think I do not want the same kind of focus on safety and soundness that we have in OCC [Office of the Comptroller of the Currency] and OTS [Office of Thrift Supervision]. I want to roll the dice a little bit more in this situation towards subsidized housing."
Cute, but the real story has very little to do with "bad mortgages" and a lot more to do with banks that have been allowed to "gamble" their debt through the deregulatory practices of the Clinton and Bush administrations! Ignoring that aspect of the current economic crisis does not help the situation and leads to further "dumbing down" of Americans.
