Charlie's credo can be found in its original form at http://tinyurl.com/cva377 as well as other locations. Chuck, I think your cover is blown. BTW, are there schools that teach "philosophy" as a specific subject?
People,
TJ says he is alone in the world. That is a very lonely feeling. Even if your family is alive but broken up, you can feel very alone and lonely. If your family is alive and you are living with them but they are separated mentally that can be a very lonely feeling. In that situation, afterwhile, you put on a false happy, smiley face to show the world. I do not think TJ is smirking. I do think TJ is putting up a false smiley face to cover the big internal hurt.
Woody Allen once admitted to cheating on a philosophy test: "I looked into the soul of the boy sitting next to me." That's much more challenging than lifting quotes from inspirational golfing books.
Setebos, there was a magazine called "Sassy" that was published from 1988-96 that aimed at a more 'feminist' approach, and "Bust" Magazine, which started in 1993. That one is more of a 'Lifestyle' magazine. I've just glanced at those from time to time, so if other readers have more to add, please jump right in.
Charlie - don't worry too much about plagiarism. Everybody does it. In any case, it was a pretty clever bit of theft for a fourteen-year-old. If, however, you are what I think you are - a fat, greasy, forty-something, half-crazed sociopath, lurking around the comics pages with multiple obsessions about teenage girls - then you might consider hiding in shame for a few weeks. It would do us all some good.
OK, here I demonstrate my total lack of familiarity with magazines aimed at the teen market in general, and teen girls in particular. Aren't there any publications which promote female role models that are (A) Real People instead of media-created robots, and (B) possess more than one brain cell in their heads?
Wow, what a buzzkill it is to read these comment pages sometimes.
So Charlie, basically you're admitting that you cheated in philosophy class. Mark Frost, the author of that quotation (from his golf book "The Match"), would not be impressed.
That aside, I got a chuckle out of today's comic!
