To Clydefrog and other fans of Dennis the Menace: Should you ever find yourself in Monterrey, California, there is an actual "Dennis the Menace" Park for kids and their parents. Lots of swings, playground stuff, railroad cars, food stands, etc. It's a pretty busy place, and has been updated with a rock climbing section and a skateboard park. I'm not sure if he donated the land, but apparently Hank Ketchum designed the park. It inspired my nephews to make up a song about it, even!

Mietz, I know it's only a comic strip, but this strip has had the element of reality in it for many a year. The sad thing is that everybody but Bernice and Luann's parents probably think you can just walk up to the door. They would never get to the door, they would be stopped well short of there. But Bernice shouldn't worry, the snipers aren't on the roof of the White House. Those are the stinger missle crews, The snipers are on the roof or Blair House and the OEB. Smile, and wait for the flash.

Bernice is JOKING! She's always sarcastic to Luann. Now she's mocking the others for waving and for being gullible. Also -- your rented or otherwise legally occupied building is called your private residence, regardless of ownership. The owner generally can't walk in unnannounced for a tour, but you CAN walk into the White House. Although you won't see the private quarters or the president, you won't get shot. Most other publicly owned private residences of kings and prime ministers are closed to the public. As for the future storyline, comics are usually drawn months in advance, so I'm sure Greg Evans knows where it's going!

Just for your edification, the White House is NOT a "private residence". It's a PUBLIC building owned by the American people, just like most of the others in D.C. Greg must not be an American if he didn't know that.

Personally, I find myself more interested in the Brad & Toni storylines than Luann. But I have to agree with Bill the Butcher that B&T can't advance too far because of their history. Toni has hinted but Brad has bumbled. If he suddenly wises up, some other obstacle will suddenly arrive...like her ex.

I think Evans has painted himself into a corner. He can’t go back to Brad and Toni because he can’t move it ahead. How can he move it ahead? The next step could only be for them to have sex or he would have to make Brad fail again with some totally lame excuse. He can’t talk about TJ because he’s made TJ TOO mysterious – parentless, apparently jobless, yet someone who dresses in zoot suits and can make professional level food and building repairs. How can Evans invent some kind of storyline based on TJ which won’t overwhelm all the other characters? Answer: he can’t. Nor can he think of anything more to drag out the Washington storyline except ridiculous gags and set-pieces. So he’s stuck, well and truly, until he can think of some way to get the story moving again – if he can. I think these imagination failures will begin coming more and more often as time goes on. It happens.

What a tragic - but completly awesome - way to end this story arc... Bernice having her head blown to smithereens because she wanted to meet Obama *LOL*

Actually, Bernice, you're seeing the Secret Service snipers zeroing in on you and the others.
