I don't think you need more than three panels to make this point about blending families whether they're pets, children, or friends. I like the smaller dog resting its chin on the table in resignation. The somewhat apprehensive hamster who has been brought to the peace table, cage and all, is also funny.
All I can do in current position is voice my support for this, umm, "alternate" strip. And here we see the usual view of cats when we speak to them about something that is important to us. For the last two weeks a friend of mine plastered posters all over the neighbourhood and finally a local cat refuge called her with happy news. The cat had gained a lot of weight in a week and a half and was not altogether happy to leave its new cat resort. She says the cat has been unsettled for the past few days upon return; I reckon it's trying to figure out how to get back to the great deal it was on. I am a dog person, so I fear that my beautiful relationship with this woman has a very finite life.
Lucky are the few who can make a comfortable living doing what they love to do. Luckier still are those who have a following of supportive people who enjoy their efforts.
Howdy... this is Paige signed in as Becci. (Don't know why I can't get a freakin' login for this site)... anyway... Wanted to point out that last week the comic was longer. This week it's a little shorter. This is the ebb and flow of storytelling.
That being said, I was at The Alternative Press Expo in SF a couple of weeks ago. This is a convention where lots of indy and web cartoonist actually make cash on books to support their other ventures. Sales for everyone at this event were REALLY off. My sales were down 65 percent from the previous year. Comic shops are also suffering from the economic downturn (like everyone else) so this is just a shout out to comic fans far and wide to go into your local comic shop and buy a book or two. Comics still only cost about $3. That's a lot of entertainment for the money.
Additionally, I finally did a calendar for Jane's World. If you get a minute, and need a calendar for 2010, check it out: http://www.cafepress.com/GirlTwirlComics.413649341
Hope everyone had a great halloween! Cheers, Paige
