Greedy businessmen only come in one political impulse; conservative (or Neocon), because being centrist or liberal is against their very nature as greedy businessmen. The conservative movement is all about greed and selfishness. And no, childish edjumacator (still haven't grown up past the second grade, I see; making fun of people's names. Typical); the conservatives are the paranoid ones. They're the ones that let Dubya goosestep all over their civil rights over the fear of imaginary terrorists waiting to blow everyone up. You do realize that over 10,000 times more people have been killed in Dubya's two illegal invasions than were killed in the WTC? Shows that America knows how to get their 250,000,000 lbs of flesh... or maybe that conservatives are just greedy, self-centred, kill-happy barbarians who wouldn't know a real threat until 2 weeks after it killed them.
Desultory-
Almost thought you had retired! But that's OK - A) The cartoon says "Flu bugs", not H1N1, B) CO2 effects might be debatable, but I can't imagine how it would be wise to completely ignore the issue, C) I didn't mention anything about the political orientation of greedy businessmen - just that bankers taking extraordinary risks were at the heart of our economic meltdown, and as for D) I guess then that you also think we'd all be better off if we just didn't talk about any of it, right?
longtimecomicsfan: A) That would be the regular flu, not H1N1.
B) Yes
C) Bankers come in both political stripes, not just conservative, therefore your point is moot.
Hey, Dorkie, since you're still stuck in your paranoid mode, why don't I help you out? Obviously, you can't handle not having a lot of thumbs up for your loser posts. So, I will use the 265 accounts I have to give you one good vote. All you have to do is ask me. Just say "Ed, it will mean so much to me to get a good vote, so please vote for me so I can see myself as a valued human being, because my tattered self-esteem is totally dependent on the votes I get at this site." You know you want to.
Oh, and if you happen to come across these sites, please pay no mind, it's all right-wing nutjob lies: http://www.google.com/search?source=ig&hl=en&rlz=1G1GGLQ_ENUS261&=&q=gallery+of+bush+hitler&aq=f&oq=&aqi= They're lies because I said so, and I always tell the truth don'tcha know.
Sorry, Kyrie, but the paranoia is all yours. I have a simple philosophy in life. I always tell the truth, no matter how much damage it does. If you don't like my response, then you're obviously afraid of the truth, like all other right-wing sheeple.
So, I take from this august body of commenters, then, that:
A) Flu bugs are just liberal boogeymen (even though we know they kill 35,000 of us each year),
B) Carbon Dioxide emissions are really not a problem and merit no concern whatsoever,
C) That the profits generated from the securitization of subprime mortgages had little or nothing to do with the meltdown of the banking industry and the subsequent tanking of the economy, AND,
D) That we'd all be better off if the Democrats would just stop talking about it.
Riiight.
D-force, this is exactly why I (and other lurkers) don't post. Instead of a rational discussion you dive into ad-hominem attack. You seem very insecure with all your paranoid accusations and ad-hominem attacks. Why bother to post when that's what you do?
You don't know me at all but yet I'm nothing but a parrot for whomever-you-don't-like according to your post. No thanks.
The Conservatives are the Fear-Mongers. Bush manipulated the stupid and weak-minded for 8 years by scaring them with "Terrorist" boogiemen. Fortunately, the US got too smart to fall for that when they elected in someone who refused to run on a platform of mindless fear. It doesn't make you look clever to try to turn that on its ear, and suggest that timely and important warnings are "promoting fear".
"DD, maybe people vote against your comments without making a comment of their own. Nah, it has to be The Great Right-Thumb Conspiracy." Yeah, right. And maybe Rush Limbaugh is a runway model. :D This guy's pulled this stunt before to stroke his ego. It doesn't impress anyone.
