First week I had this place, I changed all the locks. I don't even KNOW the neighbors, and would never dream of imposing on them to enter my house to do anything. And since I have to drive to get anywhere from here, the odds of being locked out are close to nil, since the house key and car key are on the same ring. The garage has a touchpad anyway (with a new combo known only to me), and if the seldom-locked kitchen door happens to be locked, well, I have the tools and skill set to deal with that.
When we moved in to our current house, our neighbors introduced themselves and said "oh, we have a spare key to your house if there's ever an emergency. We had the locks changed that afternoon!
