@Jl2m - In panel 3, the shirt bottom is open close what would have to be Janis's bellybutton. (Note the position of Janis's elbow. When held at your side, your elbow is about the same level as the bellybutton.) However, there is not a trace of a bikini bottom showing. Either she's wearing pants or the color monkeys at comics.com forgot to color in the bikini bottom in that panel. If Janis is, in fact, wearing pants, the color monkeys could have done a better job picking the color.
Look again guys. She IS wearing slacks. Her shirt is open enough at the bottom that if she wasn't also wearing slacks over her bathing suit, you would be able to see it in both panel 2 and 3. Who ever colors the comics for the newspaper, (JJ only colors the Sunday strips) did not make a good choice here. At least it's not yellow this time.
Hey just because I honestly thought she had slacks on before she got undressed doesn't mean I was putting anything down. I think it's really sweet that he still wants to see her in a bathing suit! That's what's so great about them -- they may make faces and poke fun but the affection is apparent, to us and to both of them. Being aomewhat of a...um...an exuberantly sarcastic turn myself, I'm always happy to see when there are other people who get it.
Reminds me of my husband...Clothes may make the man, but bathing suits or lingerie make the hot babe, even after years of marriage! (Husbands see the girl the married, no matter what her body looks like now - this seems to be part of their "self-delusion" that they're all still the same studly guys we married, so why fight it?)(PS - this may be part and parcel of Jimmy's depiction of Janis today - care to comment, Jimmy?)
