I agree with you Ambidexter, but the problem is that everyone's responses were also distracting. If we keep our replies focused on the cartoon, then we do ourselves a great service.

I was working so I missed out on any fireworks. Some of them got postponed here because of weather. I had to miss out on those other Independence Day celebrations y'all mentioned too. At least I'm employed though, and in this economy that's not something to be taken for granted. As for Celine logging in in the middle of the night, it's morning in France...like about 7 or 8am when comics.com posts the next day's cartoons. I'm not asking everyone to ignore her posts, but this forum has gotten a reputation for being a vipers' pit or worse from the flame throwing. At least some of us must maintain a modicum of civility.

trigcove, manly endeavors, huh? What about lighting charcoal for the barbie without singeing your eyebrows off? Someone here said for guys that's just cooking with high explosives, heh. Oh, and turning the ice cream crank, too - no girly-men, plz.

LoL, Independence Day S*ex. I like it! #### Actually, I meant that Fireworks were right up there with the other four, but not necessarily as a 4th of July event - just as manly endeavors, in general. I would have included more events, but I really couldn't think of anything that rated on a level with those five.

Sure, I can see Arlo avoiding a restaurant on Father's Day, but fireworks on the 4th? It's one of the top five manly endeavors. Beer, s*ex, sports, barbeque, and fireworks - not necessarily in that order.

trigcove, remember on Father's Day, Arlo wasn't going near a restaurant, preferring to say out of the pack on his own? But he does want *some* company, and Janis doesn't strike me as the type who'd crawl up on the roof.

The sounds made by fireworks can be heard at quite a distance beyond the sightlines for viewing them, especially if there are trees, buildings, etc in between. I can never see the fireworks at the ballpark about 2 miles away for these reasons... No wonder Janis looks annoyed!

Remember folks, cease fire. That means both ways.

The nannybot took out Enti*ties? That's funny. Thanks, nannybot. Because of you, whenever I hear or read the word enti*ties I'm going to think about women's breasts....Wait a minute, what am I complaining about?

Oh My, this is my husband & I this year ..... 1st year that we will not be braving the crowds to watch from the local park and the 1st year that we don't have the kids & grandkids, their friends & their kids. Would have if the fireworks had not been postponed from the third to tonight. And to top it off I have to go to work @ 5
