Kirkmouse - I had a russian blue too and that cat was smart. She was the Jack the Ripper of the neighborhood because there wasn't a bird, squirrel, rodent, etc that didn't get killed by her. Then she would line up her kill on the sidewalk like a morbid display. One weekend we came home and she can lined up about 10 birds over two days, in various stages of dismemberment. I miss that cat! RIP Zoe.

Kirkmouse, don't forget the "cute, furry animal" series when Arlo and Janis were squirrels.

There was the time that Arlo was played by an alligator for an entire week (April 1-6, 2002). That certainly crossed the line of what's "real" and what's not. My god! Jimmy Johnson should be burned at the stake for not making a more "realistic" strip like Rex Morgan, MD!! Cats sending e-mails, indeed. ¶ Personally, this is one of my favorite comic strips in any medium, and I read it mostly for Ludwig appearances. Ludwig reminds me of my own Russian blue cat, Roadie, from the facial expressions to the uniquely cat behaviors. Mr. Johnson certainly nails what cats do in *every* strip, including this one. (I wouldn't put it past my cat to send an e-mail in the middle of the night; who knows... maybe my *cat* is the one who's posting this comment...!)

Q.) How many flies does it take to screw in a lightbulb? **** A.) Two, but I'll be darned if I know how they got in there.

Difference between a blond and a light bulb? You can unscrew a light bulb.

How come nobody ever asks how many people it takes to unscrew a light bulb?

The strip doesn't say that Ludwig sent the joke. It merely gives us that idea by his posture on the sofa and Janis's disingenuous question.

There have been Ludwig strips where his behavior has crossed the line into more human behavior (minus the killing, robbing, and stuff, he's too nice for that kind of human behavior). From the way Luddie popped his head up with Arlo said the joke was lame, you know he sent it. :) And I guess from a cat's perspective, that's a pretty good joke.

Sometimes, a comic is just a comic. Sometimes, a cat is more than what it seems. Sometimes, I like chocolate syrup in my milk. It is what it is and if you read more into it, you will have a stroke. Dwelling on the mundane is just..well..mundane and no one cares.
