ChiehHsia & trigcove - "I am not a busboy!" and "A billion here, a billion there, pretty soon you're talking a real sailboat." That the "Nixon Dirksen" you're referring to?
Nicely put, ather, I think you read Gus's expression perfectly. Thanks for the laugh, ChienHsia, I think trigcove might agree with me that 'Bored' was one of the best parodies ever. (Was that the sound of gravel going through a hopper? No, it's Sen. Everett Dirksen's voice on TV!)
ChiehHsia wrote: "Grundig blaupunkt luger frug watusi snarf wazoo. Nixon dirksen nasahist, rebozo boogaloo!" ****** Ah, Bored Of The Rings, it's been many years since I've read it. "Nixon Dirksen", I doubt many even recall the reference.
Gus is thinking "Everybody's a comedienne."
There's nothing to discuss. A&J see gene is in good hands. He's not getting a free ride with a manger's position or such. Mary Lou is all for Gene staying in college. Meg is a complete sweetie. What do they really have to worry about anymore? Unless Gene is planning immediate marriage, the G/ML relationship is sailing on a pretty smooth course. Heck, Gene's even learning jobs don't just come quick and easy. Without a college education, he could be stuck as a bus boy forever. This is a pretty good setup for Gene. As long as he takes things slow for the next couple of years.
Zing! Now that was a great shot..... I'm sure it was hard for A & J to come to terms about this. You invest allot of time money and love into your child and you do want the best for them. I have enjoyed the way Jimmy was able to bring us to the beach, to show us that there is indeed another side to the story and maybe, just maybe, this will all work out that they might all find happiness.
