Mojitobaby, wrong generation for that ringtone. I think Arlo would have a Jimmy Buffet ringtone like soleil is thinking. But yeah, that's about the emotional feeling Arlo would be feeling, you bet!
Good morning from the purple mountain's majesty of northern Idaho. Hope everyone out there in the fruited plains and amber waves of grain are having a fine day. In this strip we see the shrewd operator Gus at work. By renting the boat for even a modest amount to Gene he turns a liability into a modest cash source and makes the point "Nothing in life is free." He does not seem to making the mistake some moneyed folks do, of giving their children everything and crippling their ability to do useful work or to value the things they have. Nor is he bringing endless draconian punishment down on his daughter for her long-past mistake. This is conjecture but I think it would be quite consistent with what we've seen for him to say, "I had to work hard for everything, and you'll need to work hard too," then let her and now possibly Gene succeed or fail on their own efforts. The boat will be a sweet crash pad for Gene, but I bet it won't come anything like free. Living on a boat is harder work than living on shore, especially when you have to keep it presentable for the next su**er, er, potential buyer who comes along. Speaking of which, has Arlo high-tailed it because he knows he's the next su**er?
Mother, Mother Ocean, I have heard your call....there's this one particular harbor....as a dreamer of dreams and a travelin' man, I've chalked up many a mile -- read dozens of books about heroes and crooks, and I've learned much from both of their styles -- get the shrimp beginning to boil, Janice...Arlo's about to blow a flip-flop.
